The Control of Asbestos Regulations are in place to ensure that you and your workers stay safe in asbestos-related projects.
The changes are fairly limited, but some important changes have taken place, particularly with some types of non-licensed work.
The 2012 regulations are set out with safety as the number one priority. We all know that asbestos is dangerous, but taking the correct precautions and following strict guidelines should give peace of mind to everyone concerned.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 affect any individual or business that owns, occupies, manages, or otherwise has responsibilities for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of buildings that may prove to be an asbestos risk.
• Employers provide notification of any asbestos related work taking place
• Ensure workers have a medical examination at least once every three years
• Keep a record of the type and duration of work done with asbestos for 40 years along with copies of all medical records for workers
